Munden Funeral Home & Crematory - Morehead CityThomas “Tommy” Wade, 74, of Wilson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at ECU Health Medical Center.
A graveside service to honor Tommy’s life will be held at 12 p.m., Saturday, November 22nd at Bayview Cemetery, officiated by Chaplain Rick Brooks.
Tommy was born on December 2, 1950, to the late Thomas and Patsy Wade. Born and raised in Morehead City, NC, Tommy had fond memories of working at Captain Bill’s which was originally owned by his grandfather and later by his father. It was there that his passion for working in the restaurant and hospitality industry began.
In his early years, Tommy was active in the Shriners Hospital and served as the past Master of the Masonic Ocean Lodge #405. Tommy enjoyed coaching youth baseball teams and later coached many youth soccer teams. Along with his passion for coaching, Tommy enjoyed golfing and hunting with his sons where he had many special memories at the Wild Turkey Gun Club.
Tommy always had deep gratitude and admiration for his Uncle Sam Ballou who raised him after the tragic passing of his parents. He also considered Micky Webb and Lauri Webb Fair as his extended brother and sister.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his sons, Paul Wade and wife Leigh of Battleboro, NC and Mark Wade and wife Leslie of Newport, NC, and his grandchildren, Jacob, Gracie, Annabeth, Jackson, and Avery.
In addition to his parents, Tommy was preceded in death by his sister, Karel Hall and brother, Billy Wade.
The family is grateful for the services of ECU Hospital Staff, MacGregor Downs Staff, and Doug and Nicole Dietrich for the care and compassion during recent years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tommy’s memory to the Masonic Home for Children, 600 College St., Oxford, NC 27565 or to Cross Trail Outfitters Crystal Coast, P.O. Box 706, Plymouth, NC 27962, which is a ministry-based hunting and fishing club for youth.
