Jess Lee (Liebendorfer) Dyer, 40 of Kalamazoo, passed away on July 23, 2024. Jess was born on July 8, 1984, in Joliet, IL to Janet Liebendorfer.
Jess moved to Michigan in 1984 and went to St Monica's, Mattawan; Kalamazoo South Middle, then graduated from Loy Norrix High School in 2003. Jess then enlisted in the Army. Once discharged Jess worked in a variety of positions from firefighter for the City of Portage, to sales representative at Seelye Ford, then found a home at Lewis C. Howard Trucking.
In April of 2007 Jess was blessed with a wonderful daughter, Kassidy Simon. We often heard Jess stating Kassidy is “the daughter she could handle, not the one she deserved”. On February 1, 2020 Mike Dyer and Jess married. Jess’ true passions were always Kassidy, family and friends.
Jess was a self proclaimed nerd because of his love of Lego, Star Wars, Marvel and Harry Potter. Jess enjoyed working and being around horses. A recent passion of Jess’ was Wile E, a 3 month old black lab, and a beautiful red Harley.
Jess is survived by his husband Mike Dyer, daughter Kassidy Simon, and mother Janet Liebendorfer. Other members of Jess’ family are Aunt Pam (Liebendorfer) (d) and Uncle Hal Beaupre, Aunt Pat (Liebendorfer) and Uncle Don Regnier (d); Uncle Michael and Aunt Debbie Liebendorfer, Uncle Kim (d) and Aunt Debbie Liebendorfer; Aunt Sue Liebendorfer; Aunt Robin (Liebendorfer) and Uncle Bill Molter. Jess’ cousins who grew up together and were considered Jess’ sibling are, Shawn Beaupre (d); Wendy Beaupre (d); Jamie and Jaycee Liebendorfer; Todd Regnier; Scott and Amy Regnier; Brian and Lauren Liebendorfer; Kelly and Colin Gilreath; Jacob Molter; Stephenie and Rodney Moyer, Dustin and Kristen Jones; and Justin Marti.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 11, 2024 at Langeland Family Funeral Home 3926 S. 9th St. Kalamazoo, MI 49009. Friends are invited to spend time with Jess' family from 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. when the funeral service will begin; a lunch will follow to continue celebrating Jess' life.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be contributed to Jess' daughter, Kassidy's college fund, checks may be made out to Kassidy Simon or Janet Liebendorfer and addressed to Langeland Family Funeral Home 622 S. Burdick St. Kalamazoo, MI 49007. Memorial envelopes will be available at the Celebration of Life.
