Charles Lutz, 90, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on December 6, 2024. He was born on September 3, 1934, in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, to Adele Victoria (Harrison) Lutz and Wilson Lutz.
Charles proudly served his country as a U.S. Navy Veteran. After his service, he built a successful career as an electrician, eventually retiring from Rheem Manufacturing Company. He also held the position of President of the Steel Workers Union in Fort Smith and was actively involved in local politics.
Charles was united in marriage to Nancy (Patton) Lutz, who preceded him in death on December 31, 2016. He cherished the time spent with his family and found joy in fishing—both freshwater and saltwater—as well as participating in raft races in Tulsa and Fort Smith.
Charles is survived by his three daughters: Dana Lutz of Sallisaw, Sharon Rogers and her husband Michael of Sallisaw, and Shanna Lutz McMellon and her husband Jon of Van Buren, Arkansas. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Joshua Rogers and his wife Morgan, Caleb Rogers and his wife Maddie, Christina Acton, Landon Powers, Talia Wofford, Allie Ortega, Madison King, and Nick Reid, and he adored his eight great-grandchildren: William Wilson, Anyiah Acton, Ellie Powers, Saige Powers, Finlee Powers, Tenley Grace McAlester, Drake Rogers, and Riley Rogers. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, and many friends who will remember him fondly.
In addition to his wife, Charles was preceded in death by his parents, his granddaughter Ashley Sutton, his sister Mary, and his brother Carroll.
A funeral service to honor Charles's life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel 123 South Wheeler Avenue in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He will be laid to rest at the U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active pallbearers will include Joshua Rogers, Caleb Rogers, Landon Powers, Dale Calvert, Casey Rogers, Craig Lutz, Ben Lutz, Keith Lutz, and Jason McAlester.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Tuesday from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home 123 South Wheeler Avenue in Sallisaw.
Charles Lutz will be remembered for his dedication to family, service to his country, and his passion for life.
