Jesse Scott Martin passed away early in the morning on September 6, 2025. He was born on March 9, 1988, in Rockford, IL to Steven and Kimberly Martin.

Jesse was a 2006 Pearl City High School graduate. He furthered his education by earning an associate’s degree in network administration from Morrison Institute of Technology in 2008. Jesse worked as a volunteer firefighter for the Pearl City Fire Department and was completing coursework to obtain his EMR Certification. He was a rabid fan of any professional Chicago sports team and served as a youth coach for many football, baseball, softball and basketball teams. Jesse especially cherished any time he spent with family, camping being one of his favorite pastimes.

Jesse is survived by his parents, Steven and Kimberly Martin; fiancé Sami Nunez; children, Kayden Martin, Silas Martin and Olivia Martin and siblings, Jamie (Rachel) Leverton, Tyler (Kadie) Martin and Dylan (Paige) Martin. As well as 9 nieces and 4 nephews, his grandmothers Karlynn Stubbe and Donna Moyer and several aunts and uncles. He was preceded in death by his aunt Paulette Schubert, uncles David “Marty” Martin, Dave Sager and Paul Moyer, grandfathers Edward Stubbe and William Moyer and great-grandparents.

A Visitation will be held at Burke Tubbs Funeral Home in Freeport, IL on Thursday, September 11th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Funeral Service will be private. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Pearl City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Jesse’s name to the Pearl City School Athletic Department.
