Jesse Rodriguez Sr., affectionately known as "Japo" to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on May 31, 2025, in his hometown of Edinburg, Texas. Born on February 17, 1957, Jesse's life was one marked by devotion to his family, a strong work ethic, and a vibrant spirit that brought joy to all who knew him.
Jesse was a lifelong resident of Edinburg, where he attended Edinburg High School and graduated with the class of 1977. His commitment to his community was evident in his professional life as a certified A/C technician, a trade where he excelled and became well-known for his expertise and reliability. His work not only provided comfort to many but also reflected his own warm and comforting nature.
In 1976, Jesse married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Tijerina, and together they built a life filled with love and laughter. Their union was blessed with two children, Jesse Rodriguez Jr. and Jessica Rodriguez, who were the pride and joy of Jesse's life. He instilled in them the values of hard work, faith, and the importance of family.
Jesse was preceded in death by his father, Rosalio Rodriguez. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 49 years, Virginia; his mother, Delia Mares Rodriguez; his children, Jesse Jr. and Jessica; his cherished grandchildren, Destiny Vasquez, Deslynn Vasquez, and Kylie Rodriguez; and his siblings, Rosalio Rodriguez Jr., Sylvia Worsham, Celia Rodriguez, Blanca Sanchez, Frank Rodriguez, Joe Rodriguez, David Rodriguez, and Sara Driscoll. Each of these individuals was touched by Jesse's wisdom, interesting tales, and faith-filled approach to life.
A man of many interests, Jesse found joy in the simple pleasures of life. He loved to dance, host BBQs for friends and family, and spend sunny days at the beach. His passion for football was matched only by his love for attending local fiestas. Jesse also had a soft spot for animals, particularly dogs, which he enjoyed breeding and caring for throughout his life.
Those who knew Jesse will remember him as a man who lived life to the fullest. His interesting stories, wise counsel, and faith-filled heart left a lasting impact on everyone he met. Jesse's legacy is one of love, laughter, and the enduring strength of family bonds.
As we say farewell to Jesse Rodriguez Sr., we celebrate a life well-lived and cherish the memories he has left behind. His spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, just as the Texas sun continues to rise over Edinburg, reminding us of the warmth and light he brought into our lives. Jesse's presence will be deeply missed, but his memory will forever be held in the hearts of those who loved him.
