November 10, 1946 – October 5, 2025
Jesse Reed Smith, age 78, of Blacklick, Ohio, passed away peacefully on October 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
A lifelong adventurer with a generous spirit, Jesse has embarked on his final journey - this time, with the Lord to his heavenly home.
Born in West Virginia, Jesse moved to Cleveland, Ohio at the age of 10 and later lived in Garrettsville, Ohio. He was known for his love of road trips, fishing, the great outdoors, and always lending a helping hand. Jesse was a mentor and teacher to the many people that he shared his skills and knowledge with. Having a genuine and unselfish heart, he will be missed by many.
Jesse proudly served in the U.S. Army with Company B, 12th Engineer Battalion, 8th Infantry Division during the Vietnam era. He had numerous memorable moments behind the wheel of a dump truck, one of which was getting the ice cream delivered.
Jesse is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse William Smith and Mildred (White) Honrine and stepfather Robert Honrine, along with beloved sisters Vicky (Smith) Kuhn and Flora Lee (Honrine) Dudash and two great-grandsons, Jesse Ray and Ryan Marshall Fresch.
Jesse leaves behind his loving wife of almost 60 years, Dolores (McMasters) Smith and three children: Melanie (Keith) Fresch of Leavittsburg, OH; Tina (William) Humphrey of Johnstown, OH; and Jesse (Damaris) Smith of Winter Springs, FL. He also leaves behind six beloved grandchildren that were his pride and joy: Michael Schoenbeck, Joseph Fresch, Leland Smith, Erin Fresch, Alyana Smith, and Samara Smith. Jesse leaves behind cherish Siblings; Jennifer Goins and Tim (Sherri) Honrine. Jesse will be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, dear friends, and beloved cat Teddy.A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorial donations can be made in memory of Jesse to Honor Flight Columbus, an organization that he was proud to support. https://www.honorflightcmh.orgJesse's life was a legacy of love, service, and laughter. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
