Born 3/29/1944 in Waelder, Texas
Moved to East Bernard, Texas when he was 3 months old.
Attended the East Bernard school system until 10th grade when he dropped out to help his father farm to help support the family.
Worked at Ray Marek's Grocery when he was 16.
Married Amadita Quintero when he was 19 in 1963.
Worked at the furniture factory in East Bernard.
Worked at WKM in Rosenberg in 1965 til 1974.
Became an independent truck driver hauling crops in East Bernard, Waller, and Katy area.
Worked at Tennessee Gas Pipeline (Tenneco) until he retired in 1997.
After retirement, he focused on ranching (cattle and hay business)
While holding full time jobs my dad always looked for opportunities. He had an entrepreneurial spirit. He owned a restaurant in the 70s, gas station in the late 80s, dirt hauling business in the 90s, hay and cattle business for decades.
Member of KJT and for many years hosted the local KJT fishing tournaments at his farm.
Member of Knights of Columbus, loved to attend meetings and visit with his friends.
Coached his daughter's softball teams.
Enjoyed playing dominoes and poker with his friends.
Loved attending sporting events to cheer on his grandkids.
He leaves behind his wife of 60 years Amadita "Amy" and daughters Sheila and husband Kenneth Bohacek, Carolyn and husband Steven McGuire, and Emily Whittenburg; grandchildren Justin and Peyton McGuire, William Bohacek, and Boone and Gus Whittenburg; siblings Domingo Tovar, Gloria Calderon, Ray Tobar, Dora Martinez, Rudy Tovar, Anita Ramos, Juaquin "Biscuit" Tovar.
Preceded in death by his parents Juaquin and Damiana Tovar and brothers Joe and Gabriel.
