Jessica and George are together again!

Jessica Ann (Wood) Rose, born March 15, 1949, passed away peacefully at home on November 13, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Jessica was born to Fletcher "Wrenn" Wood and Joanne Alice (Dumoulin) Wood, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her beloved siblings Peggy Lou, Robert Wrenn, and Mary Catherine, as well as many cherished aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends who held special places in her heart. The loss that touched her most deeply, however, was that of her loving husband of nearly 40 years, George S. Rose Jr, who passed away in March of 2009.

Jessica grew up in Manteca and attended St. Anthony's elementary school before graduating from St. Mary's High School. She went on to attend San Joaquin Delta College where she obtained her AA. During her school years she was active in numerous clubs, enjoyed bowling and played basketball and softball, with softball becoming a passion that stayed with her for many years.

On May 10, 1969, Jessica married the love of her life, George S. Rose Jr., and together they built a beautiful life devoted to their two daughters, Brandi and Brooke. George and Jessica were deeply involved in all of their girls' activities, never missing an opportunity to support, cheer, and celebrate them. From school events to sports to the small, everyday moments that mattered, Jessica was always present – a constant source of love, support and helping hands for her daughters and all their friends.

Jessica continued playing softball well into her 50s - a sport she and George truly enjoyed together. They would travel and support each other's teams and played co-ed ball together as well. Jessica even had the opportunity to play softball alongside both her daughters at one point – something she was very proud of. Jessica and George also loved bowling, camping, fishing, and gathering with family and friends. Jessica could also often be found on a cruise ship with her mother and sisters - something they all enjoyed doing together.

Among her spiritual milestones, Jessica treasured receiving all of her sacraments at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Manteca, a community she deeply loved.

Jessica worked at Freitas Fruit Stand and Continental Telephone Company, before finding her true calling at Sequoia Elementary School, where she worked for 32 years as an RSP instructional aide and also spent time keeping order during recess as Yard Duty. Her dedication to her students was unwavering. She provided support, encouragement, structure, and love to countless children, many of whom later returned to thank her for the impact she made on their lives. Helping students succeed was one of her greatest joys, and she treasured watching them grow into successful, confident adults even the ones she placed on the wall during recess for being naughty.

Jessica was also active in the PTA when her children were young and was always involved in school activities and community events. Encouraging young people and celebrating their successes was something she did naturally and wholeheartedly.

Jessica had a heart made for celebrating others. She was well known for sending birthday cards, anniversary cards, sympathy cards, and "just because" notes. Her cheerful birthday phone calls - often complete with singing - became a cherished tradition for many. Her kindness followed her everywhere; she was the type of person who would compliment a stranger, praise a grocery store employee to their manager, and make everyone feel seen and appreciated.

When George passed away in 2009, Jessica's heart was forever changed. Even so, she devoted the next 16 years to loving and supporting her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Family and friends meant everything to her, and she cherished the bonds she shared with the many cousins, friends, and family she grew up alongside.

Known affectionately as "Granny", Jessica adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved visiting with them, FaceTiming them, singing with them, and celebrating every accomplishment - big or small. Despite chronic back pain from her many years of sliding into bases on the softball field, she never let discomfort keep her from showing up for the people she loved.

Jessica will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, sense of humor, her faith and unwavering love for her family.. Her legacy of love will continue through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who will forever carry her spirit in their hearts.

Jessica is survived by her daughters Brooke Rose and Brandi (Rose), including her son-in-law Kenneth Marsh, Brandi's husband. She was also the proud and devoted grandmother to Kaitlyn Rose and Aimee (Rose-Marsh), the daughters of Brandi and Ken, along with grandson-in-law Ryan Callahan, Aimee's husband. Jessica's greatest joys in her later years was becoming a great-grandmother to Thomas George (Kaitlyn's son) and most recently Madeline June (Aimee and Ryan's daughter) who brought her endless smiles, laughter and love.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Rahul Patel, the Stockton Cardiology team, and the entire staff at Cogir Retirement Community for their exceptional care, compassion, and support.
