With deep love for family Maria Morgado peacefully passed away on October 26, 2025, surrounded by her family in Manteca, California. Born on October 3, 1926, in Portugal, Maria carried her heritage proudly and lovingly through every chapter of her life.
Maria came to the United States seeking new opportunity and a place to plant roots for her family. Her journey first brought her to Thornton, California, then to Hayward, before she eventually made Manteca her home to be close to those she cherished most.
Maria is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Amandio, her brother Jaime De Silva, granddaughters Jeannie and Connie and great-grandchildren Fernando and Olivia.
She is survived by her sons, Nelson Morgado (Betty) and Carlos Morgado (Virginia); her grandchildren Terri Lacey, Nelson D. Morgado Jr., Carlos S. Morgado, Paulo Morgado, and Lisa Jaekel; as well as 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild who carry her legacy forward with love and pride.
Faith was at the heart of Maria's life. She enjoyed attending Mass at St. Anthony's Catholic Church with her children, and throughout her years she also participated in parish life at St. John's and St. Lorenzo. Her devotion shaped her days and grounded her family in tradition and love.
Maria had a gentle, joyful spirit and a natural gift for creating beauty. She tended her garden with patience and passion, especially her beloved orchids so stunning that one was honored as "Picture of the Month" during her years in Hayward. She took pride in her home, finding joy in keeping things clean, tidy, and welcoming. Her happy nature, genuine kindness, and warm smile allowed her to make friends wherever she went. She was loved by many and cherished deeply by her family.
Maria's life was a testament to faith, family, and simple joys. She leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and grace.
