Graveside services for Mrs. Jessie Mae Bennett, 91, of Oak Hill, will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, at the Pavilion at Oak Hill Cemetery with Marcus Appleton officiating. Interment will follow under the direction of Crawford-A. Crim Funeral Home. The Family will receive friends before and after the service at the cemetery. Mrs. Bennett passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025. She was born February 3, 1934, in Rusk County where she was a life-long resident to the late Austin and Daisy (Johnson) Allen. She was a woman with many talents. She was a stay-at-home mom who made sure her family was taken care of but not only was she home she also had hobbies. She was always in the kitchen cooking for her husband and kids, and eventually her grand kids and great grand kids. She was also a seamstress for her kids Colleen and Renee by making their outfits. She would even help the Henderson drill team out by making their outfits for show. For years she loved to paint, no matter what time of year it was she was always painting a gorgeous picture of some landscape. She was always in the garden and flower beds making sure they looked the best. She had plants everywhere that you can think of. Jessie Bennett was a wonderful lady that was always dressed up nice no matter if she was just staying home for the day. She had an outfit for everything you could imagine. When one would think of her, they always thought of a nice lovely one who was always dressed up pretty. Jessie wasn't always a stay-at-home mom. Her and George would travel the world to see places most people don't get to see. They've been across the seas and all of the United States. Jessie collected rocks from every place she went. When you would ask her where one came from, she could tell you a story about them. Jessie and George loved to spend time together going from one place to another. Jessie lived life to the fullest. She was always happy to see someone. She always knew how to put a smile on anyone's face. She had a passion for plants, cooking, and her Family. She always wanted to be there with her family in every way possible. What kept Jessie going all these years were family, but also her cats. She always had a cat or 7 around, she never let a stray go by without taking care of it. The cats may have all looked a like but she knew each and every one of their names. Mrs. Bennett was also a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother James Ray Allen and his wife Sue, and brother-in-law C.D. Penney. Survivors include her husband of 71 years George W. Bennett of Oak Hill; daughters Debra Colleen Appleton and husband Marcus of Oak Hill, and Pamela Reneé Neill and husband Ross of Oak Hill; sister Jean Katherine Penney of Jasper; grandchildren Matthew Scott Appleton and wife Crissy, and Rachel Nicole Appleton and husband Keith; great-grandchildren Kiaya, MaKenna, and Ryker Appleton; and a host of nieces and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Matt Appleton, Ryker Appleton, Ross Neill, Johnny Tillison, and Blake Horn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lakeview Baptist Church at 10522 FM 2011, Longview, Texas 75603. Words of comfort may be shared with the family at www.crawfordacrim.com.
