Jefferson, SC Mr. Jessie Dennis Belk, age 70, entered into rest on Wednesday, April 9, 2025 at the McLeod Hospice House with his family by his side. A Graveside service will be 5:00 PM Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery by Brent Taylor with the eulogy being delivered by his granddaughter, Amber C. “Bud” Belk. The family will receive friends for a viewing and visitation from 4:00 – 5:00 PM Saturday at the cemetery.
Mr. Belk was born January 6, 1955 in Pageland, SC a son of the late Floyd and Edna Gainey Belk. He worked in construction as a brick mason and was known to all as a “Jack of all trades.” Dennis could work on anything from mechanics, carpentry or logging. He was a member of New Life For Jesus Center, where he served as a former Deacon. He enjoyed fishing and racing, but his favorite thing to do was to sit outside under the shade tree. He was a proud “Paw-paw” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Belk was also preceded in death by his son, Joey Lynn “Chub” Belk; and brother; infant brother, Donald Belk; Floyd “P-Nut” Belk.
Survivors include his wife of over 50 years, Barbara Wright Belk of the home; 3 daughters, Crystal (David) Estes of Jefferson, SC, Nicole (Pedro) Vasquez of Pageland, SC, and Penny (Roy) Trotter of Jefferson, SC; daughter-in-law, Kathy Belk of Jefferson, SC; grandchildren, Ashley “Tater” Estes, David “Spanky” Estes IV, Jonathan “Fester” Estes, Amber “Bud” Belk, Selena “Mia” Vasquez, Angel “Molly” (Devon) Vasquez, Katie Carnes, Dylan “DD” Carnes, Erin “Coot” Romane, Justin “Fat Boy” Belk, Zack Belk, Joseph “Jo Jo” Belk, and Braxton “Scooter” Belk; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Bobbie Jean (Michael) Laney of Mt. Croghan, SC; daughter of the heart, Jennifer Melton White of Mt. Croghan, SC; granddaughter of the heart, Alanna Nicole Wilson; in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to nurses Marquita Gordon, Aimee Lee, and Ya’Mzah Buey along with the entire staff of the McLeod Hospice House of Florence for the excellent care and support they provided.
