Mr. Richard L. Worrell, age 67, entered into rest on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at McLeod Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Cheraw Church of God by Pastor William Liabastre and Reverend James Thomas Pegues. The family will greet friends from 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM Thursday, prior to the service at the church.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, April 3, 2026 at the Mount Hope Cemetery in Greeleyville, SC.
Mr. Worrell was born May 1, 1958 in Lake City, SC a son of Jack Dempsey and Annie Rae Wallace Worrell and grew up in the Broad Swamp community. He worked for Georgia-Pacific in Russellville for many years and retired from Firestone Building Products in Kingstree. Richard was a member of Cheraw Church of God where he served as an usher. He was a long-time volunteer at the Chesterfield Food Bank. He enjoyed supporting his son in competition pig-picking BBQ cookoffs.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Worrell was also preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Worrell.
Survivors include his wife, Becky Worrell; children, Lee (Candace) Worrell and their children, Lizzie & Lexx; Matt (Ann) Worrell and their children, Alexis, Bailey, and Haylee; Sharon Howle and her children, Lauren & Dane; Renee Barlow and her children, Jennifer (Dusty) Covington, Bridget Barlow (Matt McIntyre), and James Barlow; numerous great grandchildren; and 1 great – great grandchild; siblings, John (Vonda) Worrell, Melvin (Marion) Worrell, Patsy (Saban) Johns, and Harris (Diane) Worrell.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the following medical professionals of McLeod Regional Medical Center, Corrie Micua (RN), William Otter – White (NP), Darrell Quick (NP), Dawnnna Supio (PNP-C), Ashley Brown (RN), Megan Sanders (RN), Janson Hance (DO) for their kindness and extraordinary care shown to Mr. Worrell and the family.
