A private graveside service was held for Jessie Lee Ellis on Friday, March 27, 2026, in the Ellis Family Cemetery in Krotz Springs, LA.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Jessie Lee Ellis, 80, on March 26,2026. He was born and raised in Krotz Springs, LA. He was an exceptionally hardworking and devoted family man who spent his entire life farming. With deep roots in the land, he carried on the legacy of his father before him, pouring his time, strength, and heart into building and sustaining the family farm. Everything he did was for his family, and his dedication showed in both the life he built and the values he passed down. That legacy continues on through his son, who now carries the farm forward—a testament to a lifetime of hard work, love, and commitment.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Melinda “Pete” Duplessis Ellis; his son, Jeffery Ellis and wife, Katie; his son, Christopher Ellis and wife, Maggie; his daughter, Jaime Ellis Girard and husband, Brian; and his daughter, Joni Ellis. He is also survived by ten grandchildren: Austin Ellis, Westin Ellis, Ashton Ellis, Levi Ellis, Lucas Ellis, Madysun Girard, Dalton Girard, Collin Dubuc, Alivia Dubuc and Bryleigh Dubuc; and a very close family member, Carolyn Ellis. He is also survived by two sisters; Vitula Ellis Dupree and Gloria Ellis Bihm.
He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Lee Ellis and Lorine Stermer Ellis; five brothers: J.W. Ellis, J.B. Ellis, Henry Ellis Jr, Frank Ellis, and Joel Ellis; and his son, Michael Ellis.
Per Jessie’s request, a private ceremony will be held for immediate family at Ellis Family Cemetery.
