Her beloved sister, Mary Faulconer, passed away just one day after Jessie. She is survived by her children, Kevin Hamrick, Kathy Hamrick, and Keith Hamrick; as well as Jerome's children and their spouses, Jeff Sale (Leslie), and Cindy Stevens (Gary). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Colby Sale, Kirsten Hamrick, Jonah Lovrak-Brenner, Obie Lovrak-Hamrick, Landon Sale, and Cohen Sale; and great-grandchildren, Shiner Sale, Pearl Sale, Landry Sale, and Diotima Brenner. Born in 1940 in her family's farm home in Post Oak, Spotsylvania County, Jessie grew up attending Zoan Baptist Church and treasured her childhood on the farm before the family moved to Cherry Road at Five Mile Fork.
As the oldest daughter in a family of nine children, Jessie took her role very seriously. From a young age, she learned to cook for her sisters and brothers-a skill and joy she carried throughout her life, always eager to feed and care for her family. She graduated from Spotsylvania High School in 1957 and soon after married Marvin Hamrick Jr. Together, they raised three children, Kevin, Kathy, and Keith.
After returning to the United States from three years in Germany as a military wife, Jessie became active in the Junior Women's Club. She enjoyed working with people and, in the 1960s, held positions as a telephone operator and as office manager for Dr. Samuel Saunders. She then began a long career at Mary Washington Hospital, where she worked in admitting and patient accounts for 32 years.
Jessie lived a full and very independent life and was known for her giving spirit. She enjoyed embroidery, auctions, craft shows, and bazaars. She took joy in baking her famous rum cakes at Christmas, and her family looked forward to them every year. She loved to travel and encouraged others to see the world while they could. One of her favorite places was the Outer Banks, which she visited as often as she could. Above all, she delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought her endless pride and joy.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 9, at Round Oak Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
