Jessie Stansberry Obituary

Published by Legacy on Sep. 10, 2025.
Jessie Gordon Stansberry of Cumberland, MD, passed away September 6, 2025 at Cumberland Healthcare Center.

Born November 29, 1931, in Oldtown, MD, Jessie was the daughter of the late Edith Gordon Lewis and Curtis Lewis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stansberry.

Jessie was a 1949 graduate of Fort Hill High School and was a lifelong BIG RED FAN. She worked in past years at various department stores and as a school bus assistant. She enjoyed Fort Hill Football and taking care of everyone in the neighborhood. She brought joy to many people with her painted rocks.

Jessie is survived by her daughter, Janice Langford and husband Paul of Belcamp, MD; her two grandchildren, Cynthia Langford of Harpers Ferry, WV, Scott Langford of Auckland, New Zealand; and the kids who kept her "young", Haley Butler and Zoey Hill of Cumberland, MD.

She will be missed by the wonderful people who were always there for her, Pam Stallman, Linda Keefauver, Sandra Wachter, and Cecil who can fix anything, and those who will always be considered family, Cheryl Jones and Cheyenne Jones. It is a great comfort that she will be joining friends and family who passed before her, Mac, Buddy, Jean, and Joshua.

Friends will be received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, P.A., 108 Virginia Avenue, Cumberland, MD on September 19, 2025, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. A memorial service will immediately follow at 3:00 pm with Chaplain Paul Demers officiating.

Friends and family are invited to Linda's Old Furnace Restaurant, WV-28, Ridgely, WV for a reception from 4:00 to 6:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations in honor of Jessie to your favorite charity in need.
