Obituary published on Legacy.com by Acres West Funeral Chapel and Crematory - West Odessa on Sep. 11, 2024.
Beloved father, husband, grandfather, and friend to many Jesus Oliván Segura, age of 71, went to be with his Heavenly King on Monday, September 9, 2024. Jesus (Chuy) was born on February 23, 1953 in Fresnillo, Zacatecas to Antonio and Petra Olivan. He was raised in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico, eventually moving to El Paso, Texas to find better job opportunities and raise his family. He moved to his permanent home, Odessa,Texas in 1980, where he worked hard as an auto repairman and painter for Lupe's Body Shop, eventually owning his own Body Shop (B&J's Body Shop) for 30+ years and approximately 5 years ago had to close the body shop to focus on his health. He had a passion for exploring different business options. Throughout his life he owned the body shop and at one point a bar. He was known for buying old used/wrecked cars, fixing them to look like new, and then selling them. He enjoyed a variety of different hobbies, including fishing, bowling, horse racing, grilling carne asada, and supporting his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. In his late years, his yard became his pride and joy, especially his trees. He always enjoyed making everyone laugh with his Cantinflas imitations and never ending jokes.
Jesus & Janie had a relationship of 18 years of love that blossomed & something beautiful grew between them. Jesse adored his wife & his eyes would sparkle like diamonds when he looked at her, the deep love he had for her obvious in his bright eyes & the wonderful way he treated her. Aging & health issues had limited their traveling adventures, yet their days were still filled with joking & laughter & their evenings were spent enjoying music outside in the yard, dancing & talking. Theirs was a simple but richly blessed life, one in which they shared an undeniable love resulting in the creation of so many great memories. The hole his passing leaves in many hearts, especially hers, will be impossible to fill but we trust the Lord to carry us forward in His peace.
Jesus is survived by his wife, Juanita Ramirez (Janie), Maria Dorantes (Mother of his children), his children, Erika Garza (Steven), Maribel Meza (Edgar), Jesse Oliván Jr., Ricardo Manuel Oliván (Tabitha), and Krystal Oliván.
