In Loving Memory
of
Jesus Rios Vidales
August 9, 1921 - September 2, 2023
Jesus Rios Vidales a cherished member of our family, a WWII veteran, a dedicated community activist with TOP, a member of the Esperanza Peace and Justice center and a beacon of love and strength, peacefully passed away at the remarkable age of 102. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, parents, and siblings in eternal rest.
Jesus was preceded in death by his parents Jose R. Vidales and Maria R. Vidales, his wife of 65 years, Victoria P. Vidales, his four brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his stepson Raul Jimenez, granddaughter and caregiver Krystle Camargo and her husband Antonio, grandchildren, Rose Ann Cavazos and husband Adam, Edward Jimenez Jr. and wife Ana, Marcus Jimenez and wife Kathy, and Victor Jimenez and wife Melissa. 7 great grandchildren and 17 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A steadfast fighter for working San Antonians may now be gone, but he will never be forgotten. For decades Jesus was a vocal advocate for change in his West Side San Antonio community, Jesus never shied away from speaking truth to power and engaging in "good trouble" in the name of progress and justice. He treasured his family, community, as well as storytelling and the arts.
Jesus possessed a magnetic personality that drew people to him. His warm smile, compassion, and unwavering support were a source of comfort for all who sought his guidance. As a grandfather, he embraced his role with unwavering love and dedication, leaving an everlasting impact on his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Though we ache at the loss of Jesus, we find solace in knowing that his legacy lives on through each of us. May we carry the torch passed down by this remarkable individual and continue to make a positive impact in the lives of others, just as he did.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, let us remember the wisdom he imparted, the love he shared, and the indomitable spirit that will forever inspire us. May Jesus' soul find eternal peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
To our dedicated and compassionate caregiver Ida and VA nurse team, words fail to express the depth of gratitude we hold in our hearts for the unwavering care and support you have extended. Your exceptional dedication and selfless service made an immeasurable difference in his life, providing care not only to him but to our entire family. We thank Sandra Greer, Jeanie Panfield, Laura Medlin, Tom Richter, Ida Jimenez, Alice Cadena and the rest of the phenomenal VA home based primary care staff.
"Though the curtain falls,
Your light will shine in our hearts,
A hero, forever remembered,
In fond memories and cherished parts."
