Jetta Karen Ivey was born October 18, 1959 in Huntsville, Texas to Samuel "Sam" and Lela (Jett) Ivey. She was raised in Madisonville and was a graduate of the Madisonville High School Class of 1977. Jetta went on to cosmetology school and became a beautician, also attending Texas A&M University for a year.
In younger years, Jetta enjoyed catching turtles at the lake and painting their shells. Her love for the water remained into her adult life where Jetta enjoyed spending as much as time at the lake as she could. She also fostered her love of art and became a skilled artist. No matter what task Jetta undertook in her life, she excelled at it. Jetta had lived in Waxahachie, Texas most of her adult life until moving to Goodrich, Texas about two years ago, and was Church of Christ in faith.
Jetta passed away following a brief illness May 16, 2023 in Kingwood, Texas. She was preceded in death by both her maternal and paternal grandparents. Surviving family members include parents, Sam & Lela Ivey of Riverside; life companion, Stephanie McFee of Goodrich; sister, Denise Smotek (Edward) of Riverside and nephew, Justin Smotek (Ashlynn) of Huntsville, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.
A funeral service honoring Jetta's life will be held 2 P.M., Monday, May 22, 2023 at Midway Church of Christ, Midway, Texas. Dennis Ivey and Joel Douget will officiate the service. Interment will follow in Midway Cemetery, Midway, Texas. A time of visitation will take place Sunday, May 21st from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. at Madisonville Funeral Home, Madisonville, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MCISD Foundation, Attn: Annette Andrews, P.O. Box 879, Madisonville, Texas 77864. Please place in memo section, MCISD Foundation/Jetta Ivey.
