Jewel Marie Dombek (née Stobbe), age 73, of Plover, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 30, 2025, in the loving care of her daughter and son-in-law at their home in Appleton, Wisconsin.
She was born on July 7, 1951, in Berlin, Wisconsin, to Joseph Bernard Stobbe and Roberta Gene (Garbulski) Stobbe. She graduated from Berlin High School, and later pursued her nursing education in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Jewel dedicated her life to caring for others, a true reflection of her compassionate nature. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), she touched countless lives through her work at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, The Manor nursing home, and in home health care. Her unwavering commitment to her patients was the hallmark of her career. Beyond her professional duties, Jewel extended her compassion to everyone she knew, often sending heartfelt, handwritten letters and cards-a personal touch cherished by many. Known for her immense kindness, she genuinely cared for all.
A woman of deep faith, Jewel found joy and purpose in her church community. She lovingly taught Sunday school and was a treasured member of the church choir. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and bringing her peace.
Beyond her professional and spiritual life, Jewel had a vibrant creative spirit. She absolutely loved to decorate for all seasons and holidays, transforming her home with festive cheer. Her passion for beauty continued outdoors where she enjoyed planting all kinds of colorful flowers, bringing joy to herself and those around her.
Jewel had a special gift for bringing people together, thoughtfully planning celebrations and cherished family reunions that created lasting memories. She also had a profound love for animals, always supporting rescues and showering affection on the many cats and dogs she welcomed into her home throughout her life.
A loving mother, Jewel cherished every moment spent with her children and grandchildren. She was blessed with four children: Harly Battiest and his wife Tammy, of Selmer, Tennessee; Willa Getschow and her husband Brett, of Appleton, Wisconsin; Timothy Dombek and his wife Becky, of Howard, Wisconsin; and Anthony Dombek, whose current whereabouts are unknown. She was a proud grandmother to Jade, Megan, David, Easton, and Logan, and recently experienced the joy of becoming a great-grandmother to Cal.
She is further survived by her beloved siblings: Marilyn (Marc), Joseph, Robert (Lisa), Gregory, Gloria (Doug), and Kevin, as well as her aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Roberta Stobbe, and her brother Jerome.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Heartland Hospice, as well as the doctors, nurses, and staff at Aspirus Hospital, Stevens Point. Their exceptional compassion and caring made an incredibly hard time a little bit more gentle.
