Jewell Brown Dean, age 97, entered into rest on Sunday March 9, 2025.
She is survived by her daughter, Janis Dean (Thomas) Arthur; grandson, Dean Arthur; sister Helen Redd; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, the late James S. "Jim" Dean; parents, Homer and Mertie Pounds Brown; and sister, Agnes Watts.
Ms. Dean was born and raised in Vaucluse, SC and attended the original Vaucluse Elementary School and Leavelle McCampbell High School in Graniteville. She lived in Graniteville for over 60 years. She worked for Graniteville Company at the Vaucluse Mill in the spinning room, and was a longtime dedicated member of Highland Pines Baptist Church in Aiken and was a homemaker. In her younger years she work for Buster Reeves Dining Service. Some of her favorite things include; watching birds, crossword puzzles, watching Wheel of Fortune, family mountain trips and her Atlanta Braves. For the past couple of years she has lived at "At Home Senior Living" in Jesup Georgia to be near her family. She will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
A funeral service honoring her life will be held on Friday March 14, 2025 at 1pm in the chapel of Napier Funeral Home with Pastor Wesley Green officiating. The interment will immediately follow at the Historic Graniteville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be: Brian Redd, Dannion Redd, Kevin Greer, Bob Dean, Will Grandy and Phil Napier.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to Highland Pines Baptist Church at 1530 Hampton, Ave NW. Aiken, SC 29801, in Ms. Deans memory.
