Jewell Louise Foster Hall – Nashville, Tennessee April 27, 1927 – October 3, 2025

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Jewell Hall, of Nashville, Tennessee, on October 3, 2025, at the age of 98.

Jewell was born in Dickson County, Tennessee, to Nathanial Alton Jackson Foster (1906-1967) and Dora Lee Neblett Foster-Wilyard (1908-2007) on April 29, 1927. Jewell was preceded in death by her sister, Jaunita Harris-Parker (1929-2020), brother Dexter Lee Foster (1931-1997) and stepfather, Joseph Wilyard (1912-1993).

After he served in World War II, Jewell married William (Bill) E. Hall. Together, they traveled throughout the southern and eastern United States for Bill's work, even after the birth of their first child. In 1950, they built a home in the Woodbine area of Nashville, where they raised four children.

Jewell was a devoted homemaker, and later in life, she helped raise a grandchild and cared for her mother for many years in Palmyra, Tennessee. While there, she was a member of Shiloh Church of Christ. After her mother passed away in 2007 at the age of 99, Jewell moved to Nashville to be closer to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, where she lived for the past 18 years.

She will be deeply missed by her children: William Larry Hall, Kevin Hall (Melodee), Thomas Hall (Loura), and Carolyn Newby (Craig); grandchildren: Adam Hall, Dara Hall, Stephanie Jones, Chad Newby, and Victoria Newby; and great-grandchildren: William Hall and Dominic Jones. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation will be held at Woodbine Funeral Home, Hickory Chapel, 5852 Nolensville Road, Nashville, Tennessee 37211 • 615-331-1952 • Friday, October 10, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.

A private family service will take place later this month in Montgomery County, Tennessee.

In honor of the healthy lives of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, Jewell was a longtime supporter of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s:

Romans 14:7–9

"For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone.

If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord.

So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.

For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living."
