Jill Sandra Demorest

Jill Sandra Demorest (Crandell), age 83, of Jackson, Michigan, earned her wings on March 27, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones at home. She was born in Jackosn, Michigan, on October 21, 1942, and grew up in Spring Arbor, Michigan. To Arthur and Mary (Houghtby) Crandell.

Jill is survived by her beloved children Jay Demorest, Jena Demorest, Joe Demorest, and Joshua Thornton; loving grandchildren Kingston Thornton, Art Demorest, and Nick Demorest; dear great-grandchildren Revi and Laikyn; cherished little brother Jerry Crandell.

She was preceded in death by two former husbands Jack Demorest and James Thornton; her parents Arthur and Mary Crandell; one brother Jack.

Jill was a passionate believer in civil rights, diversity, and inclusion. She chose in a diverse neighborhood quickly becoming an anchor for a generation of neighborhood children who depend on her for love and support. Her other passion for gardening turned her lot into a beautiful oasis for anyone sitting at the traffic light. She was a trained emergency counselor and spend years on the suicide intervention hotline. She participated in prison ministries and was a reliable donor to charities. Her biggest passion was sharing the love of Jesus Christ. This was a lifelong commitment. She trusted God and her grandson enough to jump out of a perfectly good airplane at the age of 80, saying "Let go and let God".

The family is having a memorial at the later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the charity of your choice.
