Jillian Christine Harrod, known affectionately as Jill to her beloved friends and family, embarked on her final journey to the Kingdom of Heaven on the 2nd of October, 2025. Born on the 15th of May, 1987, in the quaint town of Granbury, Texas, Jill's earthly sojourn was marked by an unwavering spirit of adventure and a heart brimming with passion.
Jill was graced with love and guidance from her late father, Kenneth Smith, her cherished grandmother, Margaret Britton, and her devoted husband, Justin Harrod, all of whom had preceded her in passing. She leaves behind a legacy of love and memories with her mother, Julie Tewell Johns; her brothers, Chase and Harley Smith; her adoring daughters, Jacey and Juliana Hill; her stepchildren, Parker and Karis Harrod; her steadfast grandparents , Tim and sue Tewell; and grandmother Terry Mecier, her loving partner, Joe Harrod, and mother-in-law Donnace Harrod. Plus many other cousins, aunts and uncles.
Her formative years were spent within the halls of Llano High School, after which she furthered her education at Austin Community College. Jill's professional life was as varied as it was impactful, encompassing roles in real estate, property management, and as an executive assistant. Her compassionate nature found its true calling in grief counseling and hospice caregiving, where she served as a beacon of comfort and hope to many during their most trying times.
A Christian, Jill walked in faith and love, embodying the teachings of Christ in her daily life. Her spirit was a testament to the words of the Psalmist, "The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me." (Psalm 28:7)
Jill's zest for life was evident in her many interests. She was a traveler at heart, with a particular fondness for the serenity of the beach. Her home was a sanctuary, not just for her family but also for the animals she adored and the mini farm she tended with such care. In each of these pursuits, her adventurous, passionate, and friendly nature shone brightly, touching the lives of all who had the pleasure of her company.
As we bid farewell to Jill, we are reminded of the words of the great poet John Donne, who wrote, "One short sleep past, we wake eternally, and death shall be no more; Death, thou shalt die." Jill's spirit, now free from the confines of this mortal coil, soars high above us, leaving a trail of cherished memories and an indelible mark upon our hearts.
We celebrate Jill's life, not with sorrow, but with the joy of knowing she lived fully, loved deeply, and left this world better than she found it. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and faith will continue to inspire those she has left behind. Though her physical presence is no longer with us, her spirit remains an eternal flame, guiding us through.
