Obituary for James Frederick Daiker
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Frederick Daiker, a beloved educator, devoted family man, and cherished member of the community. Jim was born on December 8, 1936, in Cincinnati, Ohio, and he departed from this world on January 9, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and dedication.
With his PhD, Jim dedicated his life to education, working as a special education teacher and administrator in various schools and programs throughout his career. His passion for helping others extended beyond the classroom, as he was an advocate for the needs of all students striving to achieve their full potential.
Jim was a devoted Christian and longtime member of Montfort Heights United Methodist Church who taught Sunday school and participated in multiple church activities. His faith was the guiding force in his life, influencing his compassion and willingness to support those around him.
Jim had many interests outside of education; he had a lifelong commitment to learning and innovation, particularly in faith, nutrition, and technology. He found joy in baking and cooking, with a particular enthusiasm for specialized diets, even inspiring him to write a book. Jim was a lover of music, played the trombone, and passed on this passion to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his beloved spouse, Lois Daiker, his son Dave (Jen) Daiker, daughters Barb (Andrean Lynch) Daiker and Beth (Shelton) Plamondon, and an endearing legacy of grandchildren: Kyle, Dan, Liese, Allecia, Samantha, Alex, and Emily, as well as three great-grandchildren. Jim also cherished his relationships with his siblings-Ken (Lan) Daiker, Jerry Daiker, Roger (Mary) Daiker-and his sister-in-law Christine Cornelius. He held deep affection for his nieces and nephews: Jeff Daiker, Kera Everett, Andrew Daiker, Kylie Allensworth, and Abbey Cornelius.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frederick and Hilda Daiker, brother-in-law, Frank Cornelius, and sisters-in-law, Marilyn Daiker, Elisabeth Anger, and Margaret Anger.
Throughout his life, Jim took great pride in his grandchildren and their achievements, always striving to be present during their activities, imparting wisdom, laughter, and support.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025 from 9:30am-10:00am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, 2155 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231 (Follow the BLUE Line). A funeral service will follow at 10:00am. Burial will take place at 11:00am at the Arlington Memorial Gardens, 2145 Compton Road, Cincinnati, OH 45231.
Memorial contributions in honor of Jim can be made to the Montfort Heights United Methodist Church at https://mhumc.org/donate/.
Jim's dedication to family, faith, and community will forever be cherished and remembered. He will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered in the hearts of all those who were fortunate enough to know him.
