Jim J. Demetrion

Jim J. Demetrion, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and Uncle passed away peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 99. Born in Middletown, Ohio on March 29, 1926, to the late John Demetrion and Sophia (nee Stephanides) Demetrion. Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II with honorable discharge. Following his service, Jim pursued higher education and graduated from Ohio University. He built a successful career as an Controller and President of Chester Products in Middletown OH. He lived a life marked by integrity, quiet strength, and deep devotion to his family.

Jim was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol and son Nicholas Bogis and his brother Steve Demetrion. He is survived by his daughter Pamela (nee Bogis) and son in law Mamoun Bayyari, his grandchildren Fadil and Sanaa (nee Mallah) Bayyari and Nadia Bayyari, his great-grandchildren Yara and Zayn Bayyari and his niece and nephews John, Andrew and the late Stephanie Demetrion and more nieces and nephews that are too many to mention.

He took great pride in his growing family and found immense joy in each new generation. Jim was affectionately known as Papou or Pita Boss to his grandchildren.

Jim was known for his wisdom, kindness, and thoughtful presence. He had an extraordinary ability to connect with people. He loved history, faith, and above all, his family-taking great pride in each new generation. A gentle soul with a steady compass, he was a loyal friend, a loving patriarch, and an anchor to those who knew him. His legacy of love, strength, and compassion lives on in the many lives he touched.

In his early life he was a member of Sts Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Middletown, Ohio and then Holy Trinity-St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Finneytown, Ohio, where he remained actively involved through the rest of his life. He was a proud member of AHEPA, American Rose Society, Metallica Club and volunteered for many years at the Cincinnati Museum Center.

Visitation for Jim will be on Wednesday August 6th, 2025, at 12 pm, accompanied by service at 1pm at the Holy Trinity St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, 7000 Winton Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45224. The burial will be at Spring Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Cincinnati Association for the Blind & Visually Impaired or the charity of their choice. May his memory be eternal.
