It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of James (Jim) Baughman on July 5, 2022 at the age of 91. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Edna McLaren Baughman on 4/3/2020. It is a comfort that they are reunited now, after being married nearly 65 years.
Jim was born in Black Lick, Pennsylvania, and became a mechanical engineer. He served as a tank mechanic in the US Army before marrying and then moving to California in 1963 with his wife and three children to work on such projects as the Apollo spacecraft, and the space shuttle. He enjoyed being Scoutmaster and leading the Boy Scouts as his boys were growing up and working on home projects- employing his ingenuity to repair anything home or auto related.
Edna was also born in Black Lick, Pennsylvania, and became a Registered Nurse. She worked at West Hills Hospital, serving as a floor nurse, the Director of education, and the Director of Nurses before retiring. She continued to volunteer at the hospital at the gift shop. Edna enjoyed being Den mother to her sons in Boy Scouts, scorekeeper in Little League, and as a leader for her daughter's Campfire Girls group. She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles and reading.
During their nearly 65 years of marriage, Jim and Edna enjoyed travel, developed a passion for genealogy, and spending time with family and friends. They were preceded in death by their youngest son, Bruce, on December 22, 2019. They are survived by: son, Brad Baughman and his wife Beverly, Daughter Susan Pavone and spouse Peter; four grandchildren- Jessica Pavone, Victoria Caldwell and spouse Andrew, Stephanie Pavone, and Brett Baughman and spouse Jenay; and one great granddaughter, Elise Caldwell. In addition, James is survived by his sister, Donna Luchsinger. Edna is survived by her brothers Ed McLaren and Bill McLaren.
Individually and as a couple, Jim and Edna Baughman were beloved parents, grandparents, siblings, friends and neighbors. They will be sorely missed.

I was friends and classmates with Bruce at CSUN in 1981. I lost contact with him just a few years ago. I remember Bruce loved his parents and deeply respected his father that helped construct his wheelchair and van. He also loved his golden retrievers , Cooh and Riley.
