Jim Eichenberger Obituary

Jim Eichenberger, 84, of Greeley passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021 at North Colorado Medical Center. He was born February 25, 1937 in Shawnee, Oklahoma to Tom and Maxine (Forsee) Eichenberger. Jim grew up in Shawnee, moved to Greeley at age 14, and attended Meeker Junior High and Greeley High School. He met his wife Catherine Thrush during a routine fill up at his gas station in Greeley. They were married in her hometown of Lewistown, Ohio on August 2, 1961. Jim worked with his father at their Greeley gas station. After his father's death in 1957, Jim continued to own and operate gas stations in the area, enjoying his work and visiting with his customers. One of Jim's favorite parts of the day was meeting with his coffee group. In more recent years, Jim also really appreciated his weekly bible study group. Family time was important to Jim. He enjoyed traveling to visit with family in Oklahoma and Ohio, as well as vacations on the Texas coast, cruises, and travel abroad. Jim is survived by his wife, Catherine; son, Tom of Seattle, WA; grandson, Elliott Eichenberger of Seattle, WA; and sisters, Nancy Winters and husband, Jerry of Littleton, CO and June Dalton and husband, Kay of Greeley. He was preceded in death by his parents. The family is especially thankful for the compassionate care Jim received from the ICU staff of Banner Health in Greeley. The memorial service will be held at Trinity Episcopal Church in Greeley on November 6, 2021 at 10:00 am. The service will be followed by a reception to celebrate Jim's life in the fellowship hall at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Weld County Food Bank Habitat for Humanity, the Weld County Humane Society or charity of choice.
