Jim A. Hilmes, age 63, of Highland, passed away Sunday, April 6, 2025, at HSHS St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland. Born on March 15, 1962, at Glasgow Air Force Base in Glasgow, Montana, Jim was the son of the late Joseph and Lenas (née Shinault) Hilmes.

Jim is survived by his girlfriend, Hannah Norman of Highland; former wife, Terri (née Haselhorst) Hilmes of Highland; siblings, Connie (friend, Steve "Hippie" Dothager) Weis of Greenville, John Hilmes of Pierron, and Jerry "Tater" Hilmes of Carpenter; nephews and nieces, Rodney (friend, Lisa Kittel) Weis, Carla (Michael) Ratermann, and Ashely Weis; and aunts and uncles, Arlene Hilmes, Imogene Roy, Ernest Shinault, and Ron (Sue) Shinault.

Jim was a man of grit, heart, and horsepower. He was the proud owner and operator of Jim's Customs LLC, where he poured his passion into building and repairing custom motorcycles. A true enthusiast, he was an active member of the Illinois Motorheads Motorcycle Club, ABATE of Illinois, and the National Rifle Association.

Jim's love for the open road took him to events like Daytona Beach Bike Week and the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, two of his favorite gatherings. He also enjoyed camping and spending time with friends and family.

A celebration of Jim's Life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Illinois Motorheads Clubhouse, 12905 Illinois Route 140 New Douglas, IL 62074.

Memorials may be made to Illinois Motorheads Club and will be received by mail, Moss Funeral Home, 535 N 5 th St. Breese, IL 62230, who is serving the family.
