James "Jim" Allen Johnson, 63, of Ringgold, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, March 5, 2026. He was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on July 26, 1962.

Jim attended Brainerd High School and later Chattanooga State University. He was of the Christian faith and proudly served his country in the United States Army, achieving the rank of First Sergeant. A decorated veteran, Jim served during Operation Desert Storm and carried great pride in his military service.

He was formerly employed with Renfro and was known by many as a man who could fix or build just about anything. Jim was incredibly skilled with his hands and enjoyed carpentry, woodworking, and working as a mechanic. In his free time, he loved watching science fiction, especially Star Trek and Stargate. He was also a devoted fan of the Tennessee Volunteers and never missed cheering on his team.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edna Sue Smith and William Gerald Smith; his son, James Allen Johnson Jr.; and his grandson, James Adam Yancey.

Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 33 years, Roxie Diane Johnson; his children, Carla (Steven) Gordy, Tim Bray, April Lovelady and her fiancé Terrell Jones, Amy Hall and her fiancé Jeremy Essex, Tia (Shawn) Wheat, and Jessie Wade (Ashley) Johnson. He is also survived by his sisters, Terry Conner and Donna (Mike) Marrow; as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

The family will receive friends from 4:00–8:00 PM on Monday, March 9, 2026, and again from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Lane Funeral Home and Crematory South Crest Chapel.

A graveside service will be held at 12:30 PM on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
