The family with broken hearts and great sadness announced the loss of our legend James William "Jim" McCloud on Saturday July 20, 2024. He was born August 14,1935 in Valley Head, WV. A son of the late Rev. Scott Thomas and Beulah Mae Vandevender McCloud. Jim married Ina Ruth Ball McCloud on April 15th, 1956, who preceded him in death on January 30, 1989. On April 28, 1990, Jim married Patricia Ann Turner McCloud in Wilbur, WV on her parents' farm. Surviving is one son James William McCloud II (DeeDee) of
Elkins, WV; four daughters Deborah Ann Mallow (Dennis) of
Elkins, WV, Kathy Marie Skidmore (Sterling) of Conway, SC, Teresa Inez McCloud (Jay) of
Elkins, WV, Melissa Sue Reger (Brad) of
Elkins, WV and Christie Brooke Moore of
Elkins, WV. Also surviving is one sister, Louise McCloud Ball (Ray), of Davis WV, thirteen grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. Preceding him in death were infant daughter Sandra Kay McCloud, sisters, Kathleen Brown and Betty Pritt, brother Ronald McCloud, infant twin brother and sister Joe and Joanna McCloud, and great granddaughter, Starla McCloud. He attended the schools of Randolph County and was a Veteran of the United States Army serving as a medic during the Korean War. He was the owner of M&M Motors where he sold and serviced cars in the Elkins community and was employed by the West Virginia Division of Highways, retiring as the Randolph County Headquarters Superintendent. Jim further served the citizens of Randolph County for decades as not only a County Commissioner, and County Clerk but as a volunteer and member of the Randolph County Emergency Squad Authority Board for over 40 years. He was an active Randolph County community member, a life Member of BPOE Lodge No. 1135 for fifty-seven years, a member of the Elkins Jaycees, the First United Methodist Church of Elkins serving on the Trustees Committee and was a member of H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veteran of Foreign Wars. Jim loved spending time with his family at cookouts, camping, beach trips, being a member of the 5M Race Team and anything involving family. He was an avid golfer, where he spent countless hours maintaining the grounds at the local Elks Country Club. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until 7:30 pm Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at The Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. At 7:30, BPOE Lodge No. 1135 will conduct a memorial service from the funeral home chapel. On Thursday, July 25, 2024, funeral services will be held at the Valley Head United Methodist Church with visitation from 10:00 am until11:00 am with the funeral services beginning at 11:00 am. Jim was proud to have come from a family of pastors with his father Rev Scott McCloud, father-in-law Rev. Rex Ball, and cousin Kenneth "Leroy" Dodrill all preaching the word of God. His nephews, Minister Leon Brown and Eugene Brown will officiate and interment will follow in the Valley Head Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the West Virginia National Guard Honor Guard Program, H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion and Tygart Valley Post 3647 Veterans of Foreign Wars. The Tomblyn Funeral Home of Elkins is in charge of the arrangements for James William "Jim" McCloud.
