Jim McDowell

James Ross McDowell (better known as Jim), 82, passed peacefully into the presence of his Lord on January 9, 2026. He was born on April 30th, 1943, in Killarney, Manitoba, and lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and love for his family.
Jim was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kathleen Ann McDowell, to whom he was married for almost 30 years. He was a proud father to Trevor, Craig, and Mark McDowell and a beloved father-in-law to Shannon, Brittany, and Andrea McDowell. He was also a cherished stepfather to John, Laurel, Joe, Tom, and Petra Mallo.
Jim was a joyful grandfather to fifteen grandchildren: Austin, Danielle, Brayden, Alexandra, Nolan, Vincent, Marlee, Meg, Mason, Landry, Trenton, Finley, Ryder, Nixon, and Ella who brought him immense pride and happiness.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Olive McDowell, and his brothers Al, Ron, and Gary. He is survived by his brother, Gordon McDowell.
A successful business owner and real estate developer, Jim was known for his strong work ethic, integrity, and entrepreneurial spirt. He built not only businesses, but lasting relationships, and was deeply respected by all who knew him.
One of Jim's greatest qualities was his generous and giving spirit. He gave to others without ever expecting anything in return, and it was one the greatest joys of his life to share what he had and bless others whenever he could.
Jim had a passion for golf and loved traveling, especially when it allowed him to spend time with those he loved. Above all, he was a devout follower of Jesus Christ. His faith guided every part of his life, and he lived with the quiet confidence of someone who knew where his eternal home was. He was a man of prayer, kindness, and steady strength, and his life was a testimony to God's grace.

Jim leaves behind a legacy of integrity, faith, love, generosity, and family that will continue through those he loved and who loved him. While we mourn his passing, we rejoice in knowing that he is now fully restored and rejoicing in Heaven with his Savior.
