He was preceded in death by his father, Johnie Caviness; mother, Pearl Sims Caviness; sister, Dorothy Lacy; sister, Margaret Stork Fletcher; son, Steve Caviness; daughter, Deborah Hudspeth; son-in-law, James Hudspeth, and son-in-law, Roy "Donny" Brogdon.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Clark Caviness; son, Andrew (Fonda) Caviness of Suwanee; daughter, Sandra Brogdon of Suwanee; ten grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of First Redeemer Church in Cumming where he served as a teacher for the Upper Class Bible Fellowship. He also served as the former choir leader for Winters Chapel Baptist Church in Doraville, GA and Harrell Grove Baptist Church in Chamblee, GA. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service as the Manager of Operations Programs Support in 1996 after 36 years of Federal Service.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at McDonald and Son Funeral Home in Cumming, GA. A funeral service will follow immediately after the visitation at 11:00 AM in the chapel of McDonald and Son Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Brogdon and Rev. Mike Schmid will officiate. A burial will follow at Sawnee View Memorial Gardens.
