Jimmie Laverne Christensen, age 83 of Leonardville, passed away Friday, August 22, 2025, at his home surrounded by family.
He was born on October 19, 1941, in Jefferson Barracks, Missouri, the son of Arthur S. and Frances K. (Clark) Christensen.
On August 30, 1959, at Bridal Cave in Camdenton, Missouri, he married Joyce Marie Loper. She preceded him in death in 2015.
Jimmie spent 23 years in the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam. Following his military service, he spent 27 years owning and operating The Finishing Touch, a furniture refinishing business. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed cutting wood and clearing trees for deer hunting.
He is survived by one daughter, Deana Currey of Riley; two brothers, Robert Christensen of Florida and Larry Christensen of Michigan; three sisters, Joyce Cross of Florida, Donna Moore of Oregon and Karen Wagner of Missouri; six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Joyce Christensen, he was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Danny Christensen.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2025, at the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Larson officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Veteran’s Cemetery at Manhattan.
Memorials may be made to the Huntington’s Disease Hereditary Neurological Disease Center and left in care of the Anderes-Pfeifley Funeral Home, P.O. Box 176, Riley, Kansas 66531.
