Jimmie Lon Hoffman passed from this life on August 28, 2025, at the age of 87. Born on March 9, 1938, Jim was a devoted man of God and a faithful member of Southgate Baptist Church since 1971.
Jim found peace and joy in the simple things, especially being in nature. He loved working in his yard and took great pride in keeping it beautiful through gardening and yard work. His quiet moments were often spent reading his Bible, finding strength and comfort in God's Word.
In the fall, Jim could often be found cheering on his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. He also enjoyed relaxing with old westerns, favorites included Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and The Rifleman.
Jim attended Woodland School and answered his country's call by serving in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany and served with pride until his honorable discharge. After his service, he embraced country life, working as a hand on a cattle ranch before beginning a long career at Producers Cooperative Oil Mill, where he worked faithfully for 35 years until his retirement.
Jim was known for his calm and steady demeanor. He brought light and positivity wherever he went and had a kind, loving heart. While gentle, Jim's signature look was enough to get anyone back in line if they stepped out of bounds.
Jim shared 66 beautiful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sue. Together, they were homebodies who enjoyed the occasional outing to Del Rancho, Western Sizzlin', or Chicken Express, especially for biscuits and gravy. Jim also had a soft spot for tacos. He was a hard-working man who always provided for his family and treasured time spent with them. Nothing brought him more joy than being surrounded by his grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Above all, Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, uncle, and friend. His first love was the Lord, followed closely by his love for Sue, the love of his life. He lived out his Christian values daily in the way he loved and served others. His impact on those who knew him was profound, and he will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his cherished wife of 66 years, Sue; grandchildren Amanda and Jeff, Jeremy, Jimmy and Joanna, and John Michael and Sarah; great-grandchildren Bonnie, Taryn, Bentley, Zoey, Lila, McKayla, Zachary, Jessy, Terry, and Kaylynn; and great-great-granddaughter Brenda. He is also survived by his brother Arthur Hoffman and wife Judy, sister Ann Merriman, daughter-in-law Linda Gentry, son-in-law Bob Burton, bonus son Dale Ray Graves and his wife Paige, bonus daughter Justine and her husband Wayne, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty Mae and Larkin Hoffman; his daughter Brenda Jo; sons Larry and Terry; granddaughters Brenda Lee and Amber; and brothers David and Sim.
We would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Lifespring Hospice for their compassionate care and support during Jim's final days. Thank you for walking alongside us with such grace and humanity.
