Jimmie Ruth Keith, a cherished matriarch, entrepreneur, and beacon of love, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024, in her hometown of Longview, Texas. Born on February 2, 1928, in the same warm and welcoming community, Jimmie lived a full and vibrant life that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Jimmie's journey began as a bright-eyed girl in Longview, where she grew up to met the love of her life, John. Jimmie was a hard worker all her life. Her entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish several successful businesses, including the Oak Cliff Day School in Dallas, Keith Country Day School in Kerrville, and Keith Floral Containers in Longview. Through her professional endeavors, she not only cultivated a legacy of excellence but also created a community that thrived on mutual respect and support.
A loving wife to her late husband, John Keith, for 58 remarkable years, Jimmie's devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her life. She was a nurturing mother to her daughters, the late Kathy Stephenson and Karla Branen. Her role as a mother extended with grace and warmth to her son-in-law, John Stephenson. Jimmie's joy was multiplied as she embraced the roles of grandmother to Jacy and Jimmy Branen, and Christopher Stephenson, sharing summers and times filled with laughter and creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Jimmie's presence was a gift to those around her, marked by her friendly demeanor, courageous spirit, and loving nature. She approached life with a smile that could light up a room and a heart generous enough to fill it. She never met a stranger. Her unwavering courage was evident in the way she faced life's challenges and how she inspired others to do the same.
Beyond her family and entrepreneurial accomplishments, Jimmie's interests brought additional zest to her life. She was often found enjoying the company of her precious dog, BB, who was a constant source of joy and companionship. Her love for BB and her grandchildren was a beacon that guided her through her golden years.
Jimmie's legacy is one of love, resilience, and the enduring bonds of family. She leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire her family and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her daughter Karla Branen, son-in-law John Stephenson, and her adored grandchildren, Jacy, Jimmy, and Christopher, will carry forward her spirit, cherishing the countless memories and lessons she bestowed upon them.
As we bid farewell to Jimmie Ruth Keith, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a woman dearly loved. Her memory will forever be etched in the hearts of her family, friends, and the community she so lovingly served. Jimmie's life story is a testament to the power of love, the strength of family, and the impact one person can have on the world around them.
