Funeral arrangements for Jimmie Nunnally, 96, lifelong resident of the Causey community are pending.

Jimmie Ruth Nunnally was born July 15, 1929 in Causey to the home of Ruth (Wagner) and Charles Warren Alford, and passed from this life on the morning of August 19, 2025 in Houston, TX where she had been staying in recent weeks to be near her daughter. Jimmie grew up in Causey, and graduated from Causey Municipal School, and went on to complete a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education from Eastern New Mexico University. Following graduation, Jimmie was the secretary for Hobbs Junior High School. At the end of the school year, she returned to Causey, and on her birthday, July 15, 1951, she was married to Robert "Bob" Nunnally.

Jimmie was the consummate farm wife, helping her husband with all of the farm work, as well as rearing their two children. In later years as a widow, she continued to run the farm on her own, living independently until she was 93. She became a member shortly after the formation of the Causey Homemaker's Club and had been a member for 74 years at the time of her death. Mrs. Nunnally loved the Causey Community, and her children even joked that she loved the community more than she loved them. Jimmie had the keys to the Community Center, and opened it up for various events, as well as helping to organize many of them. Jimmie was a lifelong member of the Causey Baptist Church and served as church pianist for over 40 years. She had a love of travel that took her to almost every state in the country and many of those overseas. In 2022, she was chosen as the Pioneer of the Year for the Roosevelt County Fair, a fitting honor given her tenure and commitment to life in Eastern New Mexico.

She is survived by her daughter, Cathy Nunnally and husband, Charles "Lex" Gillan of Houston, TX, daughter-in-law Beverly Nunnally of Houston, TX, three grandchildren, Chad and Ryan Nunnally and Zach Gillan; and three great-grandchildren, Alice, Chloe and Daisy Gillan. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Charles Warren "Junior" Alford, Bill Alford and Jack Alford, two sisters, Bobbie Madole and Joan Murry, by her son, Gary Nunnally who died Sept. 23, 2021, and by her beloved husband, Bob Nunnally who died Feb. 23, 2001 after nearly 50 years of marriage.
