Indiana Funeral Care - GreenwoodJimmie Simpson, 81, a beloved father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather was called home on the afternoon of November 17, 2025.
He is survived by his sisters, Alice Sechrest, Dean Latham, Judy McPhearson, Marilyn Stigdon, Kay Kupiec (Jeff), children, Shelby, Tammy (Mike), Jim, Scott (Susie), grandchildren Michael (Laura), Katelynn (Chris), Josh (Felicia), Morgan, Corey (Sara), Casey (Jess), Codey, Ryan (Richelle), Ross (Samantha), Riley (Bailey), Rustin, great-grandchildren Jules, Elliott, Everett, Ruth, and Rory and many extended family and friends who love him dearly.
He is preceded in death by his wife Lynda, his mother Pearl, brothers Art and Charlie, sister Ruby, daughter Angie and grandson Tyler.
Jim retired from Wonder Bread/Hostess Cake after 34 years and began his own handyman service where he made many friends and repeat customers by taking care of people and doing great work. Many of his grandchildren worked alongside him during summer breaks and learned valuable lessons about hard, honest work and how to treat people.
After retiring as a handyman, he became an avid golfer and made countless friends both here at home and in Florida.
Above all, Jim cared for his family and friends and always made time for anyone in need. After Lynda’s passing, he remained in the home they had built for a large family, caring for long-time neighbors who were declining in health.
Upon moving to a retirement neighborhood, he made friends easily at weekly card games and neighborhood events.
Jim had a way of brightening a room just by walking in. Somehow just his being there brought a sense of calm and reassurance that everything was good, no matter the situation. He was a kind and gentle man who made friends easily. If you knew him, you probably loved him, and if he knew you, he loved you too. He will be missed beyond measure.
In lieu of flowers, it is preferred that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
