Jimmie was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud patriarch of his family. He shared 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Sarah JoAnne Smith, a partnership marked by enduring love, commitment, and faithfulness. He was the cherished father of Elizabeth Bellegarde (Marcel) and Tamara Newman (Joe). Jimmie took great pride in his role as grandfather to Joseph Newman II and Devan Newman, and as a great-grandfather to Joseph Newman III, whose life brought him immense joy.
Jimmie proudly served his country as a United States Army veteran. His service reflected his sense of duty, strength, and dedication-qualities that carried through every part of his life.
Jimmie will be remembered for his steadfast presence, his devotion to family, and the legacy of love he leaves behind. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Celebration of Life for Jimmie at L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, 2607 Williams Blvd, Kenner, Louisiana, on Friday, March 27, 2026. The celebration begins at 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M.
