Jimmy Brashier

Jimmy Brashier was born December 29,1938 and went to be with our Lord on February 5, 2026. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He will be missed and forever remembered by all who knew him…

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 9 years, Vergie Booty Brashier; twin brother, Jerry Brashier; sister, Brenda (Mike) Brown; two daughters: Kay (Mike) Hughes and Amy (Mark) Babin; son, Troy (Sherri) Brashier; stepdaughters: Fonda (Darren) Funderburk, Rhonda (Kevin) Beauchamp, Carolyn Holcombe, and Kim (Warren) Cavalier; grandchildren: Megan (Lee) Bendily, Mikka Richard, Kyle (Samantha) Hughes, Lesley (Billy) Barnes, Kallie Ashford, and Jessie (Randall) Blackwell; great grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews; and many life-long friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Carol Kelley Brashier and his parents, Bober (BP) and Henrietta Kent Brashier.

Jimmy received a degree in geology from the University of Southwestern Louisiana in 1960. He started his long career in the paper mill industry soon after graduating and retired from Crown Zellerbach/James River Paper Mill after more than 40 years of dedicated service. After that he continued working for another 10 years for the State of Louisiana.

He loved hunting for arrowheads and turkeys, fishing, and traveling; Alaska was his favorite destination. He also loved growing and tending his summer garden. In his youth he was a Louisiana state champion bull rider. In his later years he enjoyed nurturing his butterfly garden and watching over the monarch butterflies.

As a member of Galilee Baptist Church his service and burial will be held there on February 8, 2026; Visitation will be held from 1pm-3pm with a funeral service immediately following. The burial will take place in the Galilee Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kyle Hughes, Royce Richard, Rhett Richard, Ethan Barnes, William Barnes, and Cline Bendily.
