Jimmy Rex Daniel

As the sun sets on the life of Jimmy Rex Daniel, we gather here to celebrate a man whose journey through this world touched the hearts of many. Born in Tishomingo County, MS, on October 15, 1935, Jimmy's life was a tapestry woven with threads of hard work, love, and kindness.

Jimmy proudly served in the United States Army towards the end of the Korean Conflict, showcasing his dedication to his country. Following his military service, he embarked on a career as a bus driver for Greyhound for over 30 years before continuing his journey with AmeriCoach for several more years.

Those who knew Jimmy will always remember him for his warm smile and generous spirit. He was a self-educated man, despite leaving school in the seventh grade, and had a knack for fixing everything he touched. Whether it was woodworking, fishing, or tending to his garden, Jimmy found joy in every moment spent outdoors.

Among his proudest accomplishments were his military service, his long career as a bus driver that allowed him to see so much of the country he loved dearly, being a devoted father and grandfather, and nurturing his beloved backyard garden.

In his free time, Jimmy enjoyed being surrounded by nature while fishing or working on his tractors. He had a special place in his heart for storytelling and could captivate listeners with tales from days gone by.

Jimmy passed away peacefully on March 26, 2024 in Southaven, MS, surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness. He leaves behind cherished memories that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him best.

Jimmy is reunited in eternal peace with his beloved wife Patricia Ann (Wadkins) Daniel and his parents John Brad and Lela Mae (Black) Daniel. He is also preceded in death by sisters Gloria Credille and Carolyn Daniel.

He is survived by his sons John Daniel (Robin) and Jimmy Daniels, daughter Teresa Hignite (Reese); grandchildren Lauren Hignite (Mary Beth Hunter), Taylor Wilson (Sterling), Summer Hignite (Jordan); great-grandchildren Levi and Mason Wilson; sisters Lila Dill, Tilly Edmonson, and Joan Turner (Harold Wayne).
