Jimmy Hart Obituary
A proud graduate of North Pemiscot High School in Wardell, MO, Jimmy dedicated his life to both food and family. He spent many years working in food services throughout Columbia, MO, including at the University of Missouri and a local nursing home. He also spent some time working in construction for Ratliff Construction.
Jimmy was a devoted family man who found immense joy in hosting cookouts and barbecuing, a passion he carried even after becoming wheelchair-bound. His ability to still take charge of the grill was a testament to his resilience and love for bringing people together. Known for his sharp wit, sense of humor, and larger-than-life personality, Jimmy was truly the life of any gathering.
An avid Missouri sports fan, especially when it came to the Chiefs, Jimmy was always full of enthusiasm for his favorite teams. His humor, feistiness, and love for life will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Billy Hart and Mary Allen; his significant other of many years, Wanda Scott; his grandparents Clifton and Winnie Davis; and Ricky Jones Sr. the spouse of Sandra Whitaker, Jimmy's daughter.
He leaves behind his children, Jimmy Hart Jr. and his wife Danielle, Lakeisha Shepherd and her husband John, and Sandra Whitaker; his grandchildren, Tierra Whitaker, Serinity Hart, Kyia Hart, John Shepherd Jr., Ariel Cansler, Kenia Scott, Jordan Scott and Noah Hart; one great-grandchild, King Wise; and his siblings, Paul Allen, Johnny Dunbar, James Dunbar and his wife Vickie, and Sophia Allen; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on March 15, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a repast at Parker-Millard Funeral Service & Crematory. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Kathy Lee for her care and compassion during Jimmy's final days, as well as for her support during this difficult time.
