Jimmy Reid Hay

Jimmy Reid Hay, 74, beloved husband of Connie Sue Hay for 52 years, passed away Friday, November 14, at his home in Nicholasville due to congestive heart failure while under the care of Hospice. Born in Monticello, KY on December 12, 1950 to the late James and Kate Hay.Professing his faith in Jesus Christ at a young age he was a member of the Oil Valley Church of Christ.Jimmy was a lifelong truck driver. He started his truck driving career with Dean Milk Distributor in 1972. In 1979 he become an owner operator with numerous trucks and employees. Later in life he sold his trucks and worked for various companies, the latest being a courier for Solaris Diagnostics.Jimmy overcame a heart attack in 2005 and a stroke in 2009 and was still able to takeover when his wife’s health conditions prevented her from gardening and cooking. Jimmy took over and became an excellent gardener, canner, and cook. He loved looking up and recreating recipes for his loved ones. He was also a lover of automobiles and regularly bought and sold vehicles and farm equipment.Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by a sister, Cheryl Sue Hay.Besides his wife, he is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Tommy and Sue Hay of Monticello; Sister-in-law, Frances Meece of Nicholasville; Nephew and wife, Jeff and Kalisa Hay; Nephew, Thomas Hay; Nephew and wife, Eddie and Crystal Meece; Niece and partner, Misti Meece and Dallas Blythe; Great Nephew and partner, Jacob Hay and Austan Smith, Great Nephew and wife, Matthew and Harley Mills; Great Niece and partner, Marissa Meece and Justin DeLancey; Great Nephew and partner, Joshua Plowman and Hannah Meadows; Great Nephew, Lee Blythe; Great-great Nieces, Rose and Charlotte Plowman, and Annalee, Arley, and Avery Mills.Visitation will be held on Monday, November 17, 2025 from 5pm to 8pm at Betts and West Funeral Home in Nicholasville. Funeral services will be held at 12:00pm on Wednesday, November 19, 2025 at Hicks Vaughn Funeral Home in Monticello, KY with Bro. Henry Stringer officiating. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 10:00am until the hour of services at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Elk Spring Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family asks guests to make donations to The American Heart Association and Gideons International.
