Jimmy Lee Hensley passed away July 5, 2025, peacefully at his home with his family by his side after a long illness, at the age of 78. He was born on July 8, 1946, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Brad and Fannie Pearl (Smith) Hensley.
Jimmy attended U.S. Grant High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1964. He proudly served his country in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge for services rendered to his country when called upon to do so.
Jimmy married Delphine Ann Chuma on February 27, 1982, in Vail, Colorado. He had a long career at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked as a supervisor for the Department of Defense.
Jimmy loved building and working on his 1934 street rod. His passion for cars extended to watching NASCAR and attending numerous car shows. He also enjoyed being outdoors, especially watching and feeding the birds in his backyard.
Jimmy was a devout Christian who deeply loved the Lord. When you met Jimmy, you knew his Christian faith-one that never wavered. His life was a testimony to the scripture: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart" (Proverbs 3:5). He truly lived by those words.
He was a devoted husband, dad, and papa who was incredibly proud of his children and grandchildren and their many accomplishments. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
Jimmy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Delphine Hensley of Norman; four children: step-son Dustin Schirf of Soldotna, Alaska; daughter Elizabeth Kunkel of Mustang; daughter Breann Jones of Noble; and son Ryan Hensley of Norman. He is also survived by two grandchildren: Tristan Kunkel of Mustang and Audrey Holcomb of Piedmont; his sister JoAnn Hudson and brother-in-law Major Phillip Hudson; and niece Jennifer Hudson of Dibble.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Brad and Fannie Pearl Hensley, and his daughter, Lisa Renee Hensley.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at the John M. Ireland Funeral Home & Chapel in Moore, Oklahoma.
Jimmy will be laid to rest at Resthaven Memory Gardens at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 11, 2025, located at SW 104th & Walker in Oklahoma City, with a graveside service and military honors provided by the United States Army. Services are under the direction of the John M. Ireland Funeral Home.

Jim was a great boss and a great man....unfortunately I didn´t make his job easy with the loose way I managed by leave time...even when he was angry with me his kindness and respect was always there....I always tried to make him laugh which was not an easy task..one day I picked up a box of ear plugs and for the 1st time in 14 years it had 3 and not 2 in it...I kind of chuckled and said look Jim it´s a tinker special 2 for the ears and one for the mouth...I was taken off guard when he turned dark red laughing so hard and finally was able to say....gonna need a lot bigger one for this place!!! I´m very thankful for the time I got to work for him...my heart goes out to all his family and close friends and I can´t wait to see him again some day!!!

My Condolences to the family. I would have came to funeral if I knew. Jim was my Supervisor at Tinker over 10 years. That is rare. He was one of my favorite Supers ever. We've had many conversations about cars and skiing. Photo submitted is a crew sign,I kept after Jim retired.
