Jimmy Terrell Hunt, 77, of Flemingsburg, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, after a long battle with cancer.

Born in Hilltop on October 4, 1947, his father was the late Russell Hunt and his mother was the late Mary Mitchell Hunt.

Jimmy worked 20 years at U. S. Shoe Factory and 10 years at U. K. Maintenance department. After that he was a well known home painter in which he loved and enjoyed doing for others. He loved watching Kentucky Wildcats basketball, Cincinnati Reds, going fishing, and spending time with family.

In addition to his mother Mary and his father Russell, Jimmy was preceded in death by four of his sisters, Freda Kerns, Immogene Bailey, Marguerite Hawkins, and Virginia Stephens; and two of his brothers, Donald Hunt and Charles C. Hunt.

Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Penny Hunt Ishmael of Flemingsburg; his two granddaughters, Ashley Ishmael and Tori Ishmael of Flemingsburg; his three great grandsons, Sawyer Ishmael, Jayce Insko, and Jaziah Insko all of Flemingsburg; his sister, Janice Flora of Ewing; and two of his brothers, Harold Hunt of Clearfield and J. C. Hunt of Gas City, Ind.

The funeral service will begin at 2 p.m., Friday, August 1, 2025, at Boone-Nickell Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Ishmael officiating.

Jimmy will be laid to rest in Elizaville Cemetery.

Pallbearers include Kenny Hunt, Jerry Kissick, Billy Frederick, Bobby Jolley, Mike Ishmael, and Marvin Flora. Honorary pallbearers include his great grandsons, Sawyer, Jayce, and Jaziah.

Visitation will be 12 noon, until the hour of service at 2 p.m., Friday, at Boone-Nickell located at 150 West Water Street in Flemingsburg.
