Jimmy Janow, 63, of Clinton, Arkansas passed away Friday, May 10, 2024, after a long relentless battle with addiction. He was born in Borger, Texas on February 9, 1960, to Kenneth and Lucy Janow.
Jimmy had a kind heart, was well mannered, respectful, polite, and helpful. His classmates often said he was the fastest in his class. Jimmy had a natural talent for drawing. He enjoyed classic rock and roll music including the Eagles, Bob Seager, and Meatloaf. He often would take his younger brothers and sister swimming in Archey Creek. Jimmy could be found fishing, hunting, exploring trails, and caves. However, Jimmy had his dreams cut short. He knew Jesus and was baptized as a young teenager but along the way he stumbled when offered drugs for the first time. Jimmy made one choice that changed the course of his life and others that loved him. A true friend will guide you in a walk with Jesus. However, the enemy seeks and devours. Look around you to those you call friend and discern if they are leading you to Jesus or Satan.
Drugs and alcohol are instruments of evil. The enemy made promises but did not tell Jimmy the addiction would steal his spirit, his happiness, his soul, destroying his life. The addiction stole a son, father, brother, and uncle.
As Jimmy's family we want to shine the light of truth about his struggle, his battle, and his death. Anything less than his truth would mean his death was in vain. We know there are many who have experienced the pain and suffering of addiction in this community. Whether you are the addict or a loved one. We hope sharing the truth could be the difference between life and death, even if it saves only one person. As the starfish thrown back to the sea, it matters to that one. If you are struggling with addiction, please seek help. Only Jesus can help you break the chains that hold you captive.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, Beadie and Haywood McBee, brothers, Jay Ziriax, and Kyle Holley.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Rachel Janow, son, Michael Janow, stepfather, Bob Holley, aunt, Kay Mullins, sisters, Joyce Williams, Lynette Mann and husband Christopher, numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
On behalf of Jimmy's memory, we ask that the truth be shared regarding this epidemic that consumes and any memorial be made to a cause of your choice such as John 3:16, Celebrate Recovery, The Bunnhouse, or Renewal Ranch.
All the pain and torture is over,
Every restless tossing passed.
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home at last.
