Jimmy David McManus, Jr.—known to all as David—entered his eternal home on Monday, February 10, 2025. Born on November 24, 1971, in Shreveport, Louisiana, David lived a life marked by service, adventure, and deep commitment to family and friends.
A graduate of Montgomery High School in 1990, David proudly served his country as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army. His military career took him to Southwest Asia, Korea, and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, and he was deployed during Operation Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Upon his return, he continued his dedication to service as a member of the National Guard in Alexandria, Louisiana.
In 1999, David embarked on an oilfield career that spanned until 2015, taking him around the globe and forging lifetime connections. Following this, he pursued a career in industrial construction, traveling across the United States and earning a well-respected reputation. His final project, Project Flex in Morristown, Indiana, stands as a testament to his relentless drive and passion for his work.
David was a devoted servant—to his country, his faith, and most importantly, his family. As a loving husband, father, “Pops, Pop Pop, and Brother” to his Road Family, he brightened the lives of everyone around him. Known for always putting others first, even in the toughest times, his strength, wisdom, and kindness served as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jimmy and Nita McManus; his paternal grandparents, Noel and Dora McManus; and his maternal grandfather, Fred Rodgers. David leaves behind his wife of 10 years, Brandi McManus; sons Jarrett (Katie Claire) and Ryder (Elise); daughters Kinsley, Baylee (Nick), and Meagan (Tyler); and his cherished grandchildren Brighley, Kyrie, Conley, Cashton, Jaxon, and Chloe—the light of his life. David also adored his two special grand pups, Ella and Pippa, who were as spoiled as his children and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at Blanchard St. Denis Funeral Home in Natchitoches, Louisiana, with Rev. Bill Hudson officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 a.m. In keeping with David’s wishes, he will be cremated.
Pallbearers for the service will be Jarrett McManus, Ryder Laroux, Jarred Dupree, Kyle Dunagan, Josh Smith, Denny Stowers, Joseph “Bam” Bates, and Chris Zollman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice in David’s memory. The family also extends their heartfelt thanks to those who offered unwavering love and support during this difficult time—especially family and friends who became like family: Becca Trichel, Josh and Amber Smith, and Kyle and Kayla Dunagan.
David’s selflessness, passion, and love will forever remain in our hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
