Jimmy McArthur Melton, 83 of Hamlet, NC passed away surrounded by family at Richmond County Hospice Haven on Tuesday August 12, 2025.
Born to the late John and Ollie Carpenter Melton on April 9, 1942 in Richmond County. He is preceded in death by siblings Mitchell Melton, Janice Hogan, Rodney Melton, Donnie Melton, Bill Pope and J. B. Pope.
Affectionately known as Banjo or The Ford Man, he worked for many years and retired from Industrial Sheet Metal.
Surviving are his wife of 33 years Wanda Melton of the home, children Lori Ann Brown (Jerry Wayne), Dana Ritch (Michael), Jimmy Melton, Jr. (Renee), Richard Millen, Debra Dunn, and Kimberly Locklear. Grandchildren Kenneth Brown (Bonnie), Joshua Smith (Kari), Codi Smith (Shania), Caitlyn Ritch, Hailee Ritch, James Melton, Makenna Melton, Kayleen Melton, and Chelsi Melton and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be held privately at Richmond Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Richmond County Hospice at 1119 N US Hwy 1 Rockingham, NC 28379.
