Jimmy Galen Moring

Jimmy Galen Moring, 86, of Conway, Arkansas, passed away on Nov. 16, 2025. If you knew Jimmy, you knew his humor was so dry it could crack wood – but he was quick-witted, sharp as ever and always ready with a one-liner that came out of nowhere and hit just right. Born April 20, 1939, in England, Arkansas, to Johnnie and Wilma Moring. He lived a long, full life built around hard work, service and opening his home to just about everyone.

Jimmy served proudly in the Air Force and in the Army National Guard, and eventually retired from Teletype (AT&T). But where his real passion lay was the outdoors. He was a devoted sportsman and fisherman, happiest when mentoring young hunters and fishermen learning the ropes. He loved sharing what he knew – and he knew a lot.

He was a die-hard Arkansas Razorbacks fan, even when they made him shake his head and swear he wasn't going to watch the next game (he always did). He also never missed a good WWE wrestling match. And if there was one thing Jimmy was truly famous for, it was his fish fries. Friends, family, neighbors – everyone knew that when Jimmy fired up the fryer, you showed up hungry. His home was always buzzing with conversation, laughter and whatever wild story he felt like telling that day.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his wives, Orliejean Moring, Sally Moring and B.J. Moring; his parents, Johnnie and Wilma Moring; and his sister. Peggy Moring.

He leaves behind his sons, Jimmy Dale Moring and David Moring (Reita); his step-son, Shane Montgomery; his siblings, Shirley Cole, Dovie Frisbee, Connie Hamilton, Bonnie Moring, Don Moring (Linda) and Wayne Moring; along with many step-grandchildren, step great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and his beloved little poodle, Kiki, who adored him.

Jimmy had a way of making people feel welcome – like they belonged. He will be deeply missed by so many, but the stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the kindness he gave will stay with everyone who knew him.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.

The family would like to thank the staff at Gentiva Hospice for their support in providing care for Jimmy these past three weeks.
