Jimmy Carol was born on July 24, 1934, in Amite County, Mississippi, just one mile from the banks of the Homochitto River and Mt. Vernon Methodist Church, to Edna Poole Robertson and Timer Robertson. He graduated from Crosby High School in 1952 and continued his education at Southwest Junior College (1952–1954) and William Carey College (1954–1956), both on football and baseball scholarships. In 1975, He earned his Master's Degree in School Administration from Southeastern University. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1959. His 31-year career in education began in 1959 at Biloxi Junior High School. He later served in Morton and Lake, Mississippi, before settling in McComb in 1968. There, he served as a coach, teacher, and principal at Summit and Universal Elementary Schools, retiring in 1990.
Jimmy Carol was a proud and faithful member of Centenary United Methodist Church from 1968 until his passing. He served on various committees and was a devoted member of the Men's Bible Class, his beloved Sunday school group. He deeply loved his church and sat on the same pew every Sunday for more than five decades. He also cherished his time with the J.J. White Mission Team, taking part in annual trips to Mexico, Belize, and later aiding rebuilding efforts along the Mississippi Gulf Coast and in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. These trips were a highlight of his life and a reflection of his heart for service.
Jimmy Carol is survived by his wife of almost 65 years, Patricia Turner Robertson of Crosby. He was the devoted father of Chip Robertson (Jeri Ann) of Austin, TX; Kathy Campitelli of Los Altos, CA; and Robbin Daughdrill (Jeff) of McComb, MS. He adored his four granddaughters: Katlyn Daughdrill Lorio (Kyle), Jordan Campitelli, Austin Campitelli, and Carson Robertson Barchenger (Wyatt) and is survived by his brother, Reggie Robertson (Jeannine).
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jennifer Ann Robertson.
