It is with the sadness that will announce the passing of Jimmy Sanders, who left us on October 11 at the age of 86.

Jimmy was beloved by his adult children, family, friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy Sanders was born to Paul Sanders and Rosie Lee Sanders in Seagoville, Texas on September 3, 1938. He attended Lincoln High School, the second Black high school in Dallas, TX. Jimmy joined East Gate Baptist Church and was active in the church choir. Later, he became a member of Concord Church until his final days.

He was known for playing basketball. His athletic abilities were impeccable.

Jimmy attended Jarvis Christian College on a basketball scholarship. While attending Jarvis, he met the love of his life, Pearlie Spencer-Sanders.

They married and had three beautiful children to their union: Darryl R. Sanders Sr., Roshunda L. Campbell, and Jaremy L. Sanders.

Mr. Sanders’ career spanned 45 years with Dallas Air-motive as an aviation mechanic. He also served 45 years in the Southwestern Officials Association. As a Referee, he officiated basketball, football, baseball, softball, and later volleyball games.

Jimmy loved telling people he was going to spank them. He was kindhearted, played by the book (believed in being fair) and had a heart of gold, readily willing to help someone.

Mr. Sanders rose above many glass ceilings in life, earning trophies from multiple sports teams, and employer.

You name a team, and Jimmy Sanders had the stats 24/7. That was his hobby. He lived and breathed sports.

Jimmy (Pearlie Sanders preceding in death) leaves his three children: Darryl Sanders, Sr.(Sandy) of El Paso, Roshunda Sanders of Dallas, and Jaremy Sanders (Deborah) of Richmond, TX; grandchildren: Raffinae Sanders, Darryl R. Sanders Jr., Christin N. Clark, Tabitha Sanders, Chris C. Clark, Cayla L. Clark, Tederail D. Walker lll, Jeremiah L. Sanders, Jase L. Sanders and Logan C. Duffey; a host of nieces, nephews and Friends that loved him dearly.
